June Recap

The month of June has come to an end and it has been a busy month at West End Center for Youth. We launched our summer program, and this month has been packed with all sorts of fun and educational activities for our students.

We held our first West End Walks event of the summer where our kids walk from the center to the Grandin Theater to watch a film. We got rained on halfway there, but thankfully we had our West End Center busses to come to the rescue and help keep everyone dry.

Runabout Sports has been coming to the center to help train our students to participate in a 5k at the end of the summer.

We've been sending groups of our kids to participate in programming at Apple Ridge Farm,

and we've been hiking, swimming, going on field trips to the zoo, and planning themed activities to take place every week.

Last month we secured a mini grant to help prevent youth gun violence in Roanoke Virginia, and this month we were able to successfully launch our new high school program initiative. So far, we've got 10 high school students actively participating in our program, and we're paying for 5 of them who are old enough to take behind the wheel.

Our summer is off to a fantastic start and we're excited for the weeks to come.
