West End Center's programs target children's critical developmental domains.

Academic Enrichment:

The Tutoring Program: During tutoring sessions, students complete their homework and then participate in hands-on STEM activities with the support of volunteer tutors and professional staff.

The Literacy Program: Elementary children participate in experiential reading and writing activities to increase essential literacy skills.

Virtual Learning: We here at the West End Center happily embrace this new web-based education system by helping kids establish better time management as well as setting weekly goal.

The Fitness and Nutrition Program: Children learn to make healthy eating choices and participate in a variety of physical activities that promote lifelong health.

USDA Feeding Program:

The Center also provides students with healthy snacks and meals and teaches children to make healthy food choices.

Social Skills Development:

PeaceBuilders Social Skills Curriculum: PeaceBuilders teaches the social skills children need to become successful adults.

Leadership Program: Children have the opportunity to develop and practice leadership skills so that they will be prepared to become the next generation of community leaders in the Roanoke Valley.

Parents’ Group: Parents meet monthly during the school year to explore parenting issues together and to participate in educational programs that promote success for the whole family. Our community partners teach classes in financial literacy, wellness, and cooking and nutrition during our parent meetings.
