What is the essence of life?

To serve others and to do good.

- Aristotle

"Children learn more from what you are, than what you teach." W.E.B. Du Bois

Each year members of the Roanoke Valley community donate over 400 hours in tutoring. That's just one reason that West End Center is so special. The support we get from our neighbors helps us ensure the academic success of each child at the center. With 44% of our students on A/B honor roll and an 81% SOL math pass rate and 80% Language Arts SOL pass rate we can thank dedicated staff, our partners at Raleigh Court Presbyterian, Roanoke College, Jefferson College of Health Sciences, and the Roanoke City Police to name a few. These dedicated individuals show up and show our children how valuable education is.  Interested in becoming a volunteer? Click on the link below.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of much of our programming. People serve in many different ways, from homework helpers, to playground revitalization, to teaching the children a special skill or leading a craft. If you are interested in joining us as a volunteer, please reach out to Mackenzie Nesbit, at mnesbit@westendcenter.org .
