Mentoring
Studies have shown that one of the most important developmental assets that a child can have is the presence of a supportive and caring non-family adult. If most of us think back, we can remember a scout leader, coach, youth minister, or neighbor who had a significant impact on our lives. Through the Mentoring Program, a caring adult is paired with a child. Mentors serve as positive role models, help to interpret the adult world, apply what is learned in school to the real world, and provide a supportive shoulder to lean on when needed. |
