About West End Center Children -

100 children are currently enrolled.

73% of the children are between the ages of 5 and 11.  27% are between 12 and 18.

58% of the children have been enrolled at West End Center at least two years.


Children who attend the West End Center contend with a number of challenges that can be barriers to success for them. Some of those challenges are listed below.

93% of the children are living in a home headed by a single parent.

70% of the parents work, 4% are disabled, and 1% of guardians are retired.

51% of the children live below the poverty level.  45% of the children live at the very-low income level.

The median income of the families is $17,115.

95% of the children receive free or reduced lunch.

95% of the children are African American.

34% of the children have an identified special need (chronic health needs, mental health needs, special education, ADHD, or multiple needs).
