West End Center Staff

Kaye Hale, Executive Director: The most meaningful part of my job is the relationships I have formed over the years with the children and their families. To see children we have served grow into happy, successful adults who bring their children back to this program makes it all worthwhile.

Joy Parrish, Associate Director: In the fourteen years I have worked at the West End Center, it has been my privilege to participate in the growth of the program. That growth has occurred in response to the needs of the families served and the larger Roanoke community. Today, the West End Center's comprehensive services offer a unique combination of services and activities that help children attain productive, responsible adulthood. Working with the children, families, volunteers, community leaders, and staff members who have achieved this success has been one of the greatest pleasures of my life.

Nicki Joynes, Program Coordinator, Tutoring and Volunteer Coordinator,Case Manager: Moving back to the Program Coordinator from the Office manager position, I am excited to be working more in depth with the children again. I look forward to being totally involved with them again!!

Carl Cooper, Fitness and Nutrition Coordinator: I love my job.  Being part of shaping young minds and nurturing young hearts provides me an opportunity to contribute to the mission of the West End Center in a way that helps cultivate high ideals and foster integrity and character in our children.  I believe that my time at the West End Center may be some of the most important work of my career

Cheryl Ferrell, K-1st Group Leader, Program Assistant and Kitchen Supervisor: I enjoy working with children and being a good role model to them.

Mary Ferrell, 6th-7th Group Leader and Parents' Group Coordinator: I like being here and having the relationships with the children and the families. The closeness between the staff and families makes us all family. When one hurts, we all hurt. I love being a teacher and a group leader and giving back to the community.

Christina Britton, Office Manager: I have been close friends with people on the staff for many years. Becca and I grew up together, having been friends since the 2nd grade. I can't wait to begin working in the Office Manager position. The West End Center is a wonderful organization and I am proud to become a part of it!

Becca Thompson, Development: My mom, Joy, has worked at the Center since I was a kid. I remember coming when I was young. I just recently moved back to Roanoke from Charlotte, NC. I am very excited to now be working at the Center. One of the best things is seeing kids, parents and staff that are still involed with the Center from when I was here as a kid.
